History
The roots of the club started back in 1987 when Albert Micallef designed and built a semiscale 12 metre America's Cup model with a 1 metre hull. Soon there was a fleet of ten boats racing at Manoel Island. The progression from this local designed boat to the International One Metre was natural.
The first design to be sailed in Malta was the Bikini, designed by Graham Bantock, followed by the Jazz and Stomp also by Graham Bantock. At this stage, the Association was established and affiliated to ISAF, the world governing body, and to the Malta Sailing Federation.

The Club was formed and established in 1994 by Keith Poulton, Anthony Debono, George Bonello Dupuis and Albert Micallef, of whom Albert is still an active club member.
Racing of International One Metre class yachts is the clubs prime activity. This class is by far the most popular radio controlled sailing boat worldwide.
In 1994 the first championship was held, and in 1996 the first of our open championship was staged attended by skippers from England, Italy, Turkey, Germany, Portugal and Russia. More than three of these events were won by Graham Bantock and the one by the late Chris Dicks.
The highpoint of the Association history was the staging in 1999 of the World Championship. Eighty skippers from fifteen different countries took part in this event. Some skippers having to travel half way around the world to participate in this prestigious event.
These Championships were held over a week in Ramla Bay in the northern part of Malta.
